Hello World
Hello, and welcome to our page! We're Electrohephathenix 4.0, a FIRST FTC Robotics Team from Pune, India. We're a part of our Robotics Club in the St. Mary's School, Pune. Thanks for taking a peek on this website. We're one half of a group of students participating in the FTC Robotics Challenge. We're a family, an all-girls team and this is our history and our story...
What in the world is our name?
So you must be wondering what exactly does a long, hard-to-pronounce name like 'Electrohephathenix' mean? For this, we dig deep into the roots of our Robotics Club. In 2011, the first ever FTC team was formed. A group of fifteen girls began working on their very first robot: Phoenix, for the 2011-2012 FTC game, 'Bowled Over!'. This team was named Electrohephathenix.
Four words were combined into one. The first part, 'electro', stands for electricity and robotics as a whole. The second, 'heph', comes from the name of the Greek god of metalworking, technology and fire; Hephaestus. The third, 'athe', also comes from the name of another Greek deity. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, strategy and courage. Finally, the last bit 'nix' comes from Phoenix, the name of the first bot made in our Robotics Club.
Keeping in with tradition, we decided to name ourselves Electrohephathenix 4.0, as we are the fourth all-girls team. It is our mission and goal to work towards the competition, taking place in February 2018, with full-force and energy. And on the way, making memories and gaining experience which will bring us together as a team and a family. So, join us on our journey!
